Cast & Crew
After a sensational appearance in Hollywood, singing idol Andy Paxton returns to his palatial home with his near-estranged wife, Lissa, and his bodyguard, Hub, and discovers that his infant son has been kidnaped and the nurse murdered. They find a ransom note bearing the code word "canary," and they reluctantly summon the police. Andy withholds from the police, however, the part of the note giving the code word because he fears that his son may be killed if it is divulged. A second message arrives demanding $200,000 ransom, which he manages to raise, and the money is delivered to an isolated beach but nobody comes to meet him. Andy's valet, Bake, becomes a suspect in the kidnaping when manager Vecchio discovers that Bake has embezzled a great deal of money from Andy. United in common grief, Andy and Lissa try to discover the identity of the kidnaper. Hub takes Andy to a lonely inn and tortures a woman into giving them the address of a man who might have been in touch with the kidnapers. They find the man, but he is dead. After Bake is found murdered, Andy receives further instructions by telephone from the kidnaper and realizes that Hub is one of the few people who know their unlisted number. Andy and Lissa return to the inn and rescue their baby, and Andy shoots the mentally deranged Hub as police cars surround the inn.
