Cast & Crew
Clay Hartley, son of the sheriff, spends too much time at the Golden Rule, a known hangout of robber Bob Collins and his henchmen. One day, while Clay is in the saloon, Collins orders his gang to rob the stagecoach and forces Clay to participate in order to pay back his debts. Sheriff Hartley learns of the plan, and he and his deputy, Lon Carter, intercept the group, but Lon is killed. Hartley's other deputy, Joe, captures Clay and brings him to the jail. Because Clay is engaged to Collins' daughter Joan, he refuses to name the men who participated and is sentenced to hang at dawn. Hartley hears Collins plan to spring Clay from jail and kill him in order to keep Clay from talking. Hartley releases his son and sends him to hide at their hunting cabin. As a result, the judge appoints Collins as the new sheriff and one of his men as deputy, releasing Hartley and Joe from their duties. After Hartley demands that Collins hand over Clay's IOUs, he learns that Collins has sent money stolen from a bank on the stagecoach. With Joe's help, Hartley gets the strong box from the stage's driver, Bill. Joan warns Clay that her father is about to reach them. Collins and his men follow Clay and Joan's trail and capture Clay, but before they can hang him, Hartley arrives and saves Clay. Hartley then captures Collins, who shoots himself. As he lays dying, Collins asks Hartley to give Clay a fresh start. Hartley is reappointed sheriff, and Clay and Joan plan to marry.
