Cast & Crew
On board a stagecoach bound for Santa Dolores, Sgt. Harvey Masters of the Kansas City Police meets fellow passenger Marshal Ted "Dallas" Post. When Dallas inquires about his occupation, Harvey, who is working undercover, explains that he is a perfume salesman. Suddenly, Clip Pearson and his gang of masked bandits attack the stage, steal the passengers' wallets and escape. The stage continues into town, where Dallas and Harvey decide to have a drink at the New Chicago, an exact replica of a Chicago bar favored by owner Bruce Burnett. There Burnett's henchman Clip tells Dallas and Harvey that his boss would like to speak to them. As Harvey opens the door to the back room, he is hit in the face by his wallet, which is thrown by Burnett. Burnett, a fugitive from Chicago, who has offered $1,000 for any lawmen caught within the city limits, advises Harvey that they now know his real occupation. To put Burnett at ease, Harvey lies, saying that he has not come on official business, but is on a personal mission to find his brother's killer. Later, Burnett shows Dallas a wanted poster with Dallas' name on it and assures him that he will be safe if he stays at his hotel, the Gold Coast. Before he allows Dallas to leave, however, Burnett removes the money from his wallet and locks it inside his safe. That evening, at his lavish home, Burnett greets his friend, Susan Forester, who arrives with her escort, Mr. Devlin. When they hear shots in the street, Burnett and his guests rush outside, where they see Clip, who has caught Harvey spying on the party, shooting at him. Later, Dallas tells the town locksmith, Huck Homer, that he is planning to go duck-hunting the following day at El Capitan Rocks. The next morning, Huck agrees to accompany Dallas to El Capitan, even though he knows no ducks reside there. While they ride out to the spot where Dallas has arranged to meet a marshal named Jim, Art, one of Clip's henchmen, follows them. When Dallas and Huck find Jim, Art notices Jim's badge and begins shooting. After Dallas shoots and kills Art, Art's horse returns to town by itself. The following day, Dallas and Huck decide to go "duck hunting" again, and Sue's younger brother Larry asks if he can come along. After Huck helps Dallas crack the safe to get his money, Dallas arrests Larry, who is guilty of a previous, unrelated theft, but changes his mind when Larry tells him that Burnett will punish Sue for it. Later, Burnett sees the empty safe and instructs Clip to gather together his men. Meanwhile, Sue and Larry purchase tickets to Dallas, Texas, and rush to catch their departing stagecoach. When Sue and Larry see Burnett's gang chasing Dallas and Harvey, they stop the stage long enough for the lawmen to board, and they all escape to safety.
