Cast & Crew
In mid-19th century England, two young entomology students of Professor Mallinger are found clawed to death and drained of blood. Soon afterwards, another scientist, Britewell, is found dead after visiting Mallinger, but the professor denies having seen Britewell when questioned by Scotland Yard Inspector Quennell. Mallinger and his "daughter" Clare, who is actually a monster of the professor's creation who can transform herself into a giant death's-head moth, travel to a fishing village so that the professor can complete his project of creating a mate for Clare. Inspector Quennell, posing as a vacationing banker, arrives in the village with his daughter Meg. Because Professor Mallinger's new creation must have human blood in order to survive, Clare captures Meg and performs a transfusion. Mallinger now realizes that his new creation must be destroyed, but Clare transforms herself into a death's-head moth and kills him in revenge. In order to rescue Meg, Quennell builds a fire, and Clare flies into the flames.
