Cast & Crew
Tricked into buying a herd of stolen cattle, Brent Landers arrives in Western City [Johnson City, according to foreign sources] and is branded a rustler by the owner of the herd, Stan Clevenger. Brent kills Clevenger in self-defense, escapes from a lynching party, and sets out to find the cattle thief. In the desert he chances upon Lucy Tillson, who has been raped and left to die by three men she saw robbing a stagecoach. Brent takes her to the nearest town, where she is treated by kindly Dr. Barfield. One day she recognizes her three assailants, who include the man who sold Brent the cattle, as well as Avery Ranchester, the son of the wealthiest rancher in the territory. Because Brent has a price on his head, the local sheriff, Tex Slaughter, is reluctant to believe him or Lucy, but Tex later becomes convinced of Brent's innocence and becomes his ally. The senior Ranchester attempts to protect his son by whipping up the town's anger against Brent. After Avery's two cohorts have been killed in gunfights, the elder Ranchester leads a lynch mob who entrap Brent and Lucy. When Tex arrives, Avery attempts to gun down Brent, but Ranchester intervenes and is accidentally killed by his son. Finally free, Brent sets off with Lucy to seek a new life.
