Cast & Crew
Peter Amos Dunn, the president of an insurance company, takes a valuable statue of Niobe into his home for safekeeping, and while his wife and sister are out, he dreams of the ill-fated woman depicted by the sculptor. According to Greek mythology, the gods turned the beautiful Niobe to stone when she boasted that her children were superior to the Olympian deities, and later, the marble itself was lost in a volcanic eruption. As Peter dreams of the statue that was finally unearthed by archaeologists and that now stands in his living room, he hears strange noises and realizes that the statue, touched by a live electric wire, has come to life. As the scantily clad Niobe cavorts about the room, Peter's wife enters, whereupon the horrified insurance agent tries to convince her that Niobe is the new governess. Niobe, rejected by her new master, stabs herself, and as she expires in his arms, Peter awakens to find the statue still standing peacefully in the next room.
