Cast & Crew
Wally Sanders, a well-known jockey, fails to win a horserace in which he rides the favorite. Shortly afterward, Sanders' car crashes, and he claims £20,000 in damages from his insurance company. Jim Mathews, a shrewd and energetic insurance investigator, follows up the company's suspicion of foul play and interviews several men who control the district's betting. Mr. Burnside, who operates Trigger Turf Accountants, admits to no involvement in illegal gambling organizations, but he tells Mathews to contact "Lucky" Ben Black, a professional gambler. Black admits to gambling crimes but insists that horseracing must be run legitimately. Sanders dies, and Clive Parker, a young jockey, takes over Sanders' mounts. When several near accidents occur, Clive's sister Marion seeks aid from Mathews. Mathews traces the death of Wally Sanders to Burnside, and soon afterward Burnside falls and breaks his neck. The police round up others in the gambling ring with the help of Black. Jim and Marion leave together holding hands.
Released in Great Britain in January 1962.
