During a popular uprising in her country, a young princess accepts a proposal of marriage from the elderly king of a neighboring country as protection against her own subjects. Captain Launa, a naval officer from the king, arrives and, fearing imminent danger to the princess, marries her himself. The officer then escorts her to his king for an annulment, but the couple, having fallen in love, decide to escape together.
This film was released in Great Britain at a running time of either 77 or 81 min. According to Variety, the film was shown in some American theaters under the title The Escape of Princess Charming. Actor George Grossmith died shortly before the film was released in the United States. According to modern sources, the source material for this film was based on the Hungarian play Alexandra by F. Martos. Modern sources also include Producer Michael Balcon, Costumes Norman Hartnell and Sound A. Douglas in the production.
