After two years of blissful married life, Bess Hulette feels ignored when her husband Aleck accepts a partnership in the advertising firm owned by Stephen Graves. She confides her unhappiness in her new neighbor, Mrs. Georgie Leonard. One day, while Aleck is away on business, Bess meets Jack Delamore when his sistor Dorothy is injured in an auto accident outside the Hulette's house. Dr. Hogue is called to examine Dorothy and, struck by her beauty, leaves his wife and two children for her. Georgie, who is cheating on her husband Ellery, notices Delamore's attraction to Bess, and encourages Bess to do the same. Bess reluctantly agrees to attend a party at Delamore's, but arrives to discover that she is the only guest. Bess defends her honor against Delamore's advances. Meanwhile, Aleck traces his wife to Delamore's apartment and Bess declares her innocence. All ends happily for the Hulettes and the Hogues when Aleck accepts his wife's explanation, and Dr. Hogue, conscience stricken, returns to his family. The Leonards share no such happy fate, however, as Georgie, jilted by her lover, returns home to find her husband dead.
The title of the film was changed from Partnership. Some scenes in the film were shot in a fashionable New York suburb and at the Plaza Hotel.
