Cast & Crew
Wealthy Brooke Travers leaves with his valet to go on a cruise, but en route, Brooke's argument with a taxi driver over the fare to the docks becomes a fight in which both participants fall into the river. Believing the driver to be dead, the valet rescues Brooke and, to escape the police, takes him aboard a steamer bound for Porto Banos, a Central American republic. On the ship, Brooke falls in love with Lucy Sheridan, who is on her way to marry a missionary she has never met. American consul Colonel Bowie, who is supposed to become Porto Banos' dictator, is afraid he will be assassinated because of the revolutions he has instigated. Feigning fear of yellow fever, Bowie convinces Brooke to leave the boat in his place. After many incidents involving Brooke, Lucy, revolutionaries, the consul's wife, the missionary and an American detective, Brooke is saved from execution when a U.S. battleship arrives.
