The women of a western town elect a woman sheriff whose niece is loved by Ben Tully. Hoping to restore the sheriff's office to masculine control, he stages a series of fake holdups designed to terrify the sheriff. A notorious crook carries off the niece; but Ben gives chase, saves the girl, and frees other captives from the bandit's gang.
The working titles of this film were The Horse Trader and Western Suffragettes. According to Universal records, Arthur Statter received credit for original story although "his idea was from Henry Irving Dodge's story."
