Frank Boyd, a restless but energetic youth, has his heart set on Hallie, the village belle, and invents an automobile attachment that brings him a fortune. Marriage, fatherhood, and homelife all prove irksome to him, and his fancy leads him to neglect his family. His brother Arthur develops an intrigue with Bertha, a poor seamstress whom he deserts, and later returns to find she has drowned herself. Frank, unable to derive any satisfaction from life, finds diversion in artificial gaiety, but when he suspects Yost, a young man-about-town, of being his wife's lover, his jealousy is aroused. Discovering that he is in error, he realizes his shameful neglect of Hallie and turns over a new leaf to the happiness of all.
