Synopsis

A young man and girl in Kentucky, who were childhood sweethearts, are separated by a family feud until the young man saves the girl's racehorse from a burning stable. The girl is planning to enter the horse in a big race in a last, desperate attempt to pay off the mortgage on her family's ancestral homestead, and the boy offers to ride it for her. The mortgage-holder attempts to prevent him from riding in the race and has him framed on a trumped-up charge. The sheriff and his men station themselves at the gates of the racetrack, and the young man must hitch the racehorse to a peanut wagon in order to gain access to the track. The young man wins the race, lifts the girl's mortgage, and wins her love.
