Cast & Crew
Mrs. George Arliss
Disraeli, Prime Minister of England under Queen Victoria, attempts to secure possession of the Suez Canal for his country, a project opposed by Russia. At a reception given by the Duke of Glastonbury, Disraeli confers with Sir Michael Probert, who, influenced by Lady Travers in the employ of the Russian ambassador, refuses to advance funds to purchase the canal. Charles becomes Disraeli's secretary, and Meyers, a banker, negotiates a South American loan to cover the transaction, but saboteurs sink the shipment of gold. The bankruptcy of Meyers forces Disraeli to seek fresh credit and Sir Michael to advance the credit, averting the closing of the Bank of England. The Queen holds a reception at which Charles receives the Ribbon of the Bath, while Disraeli and Lady Beaconsfield pay homage.
