Synopsis
Rex, an outcast colt, grows to maturity versed in the ways of the wild, eventually winning for himself a mate named Lady. Rex and Lady wander into a valley in which there is a herd of horses belonging to the stallion, Killer, with which Rex must fight; Rex loses the fight, and Lady is forced to join Killer's herd. Jim Lawson and Joe Pangle are rivals for the affections of Jane Logan; Jim is run off by Pangle's gang. Wandering in the hills, he finds Rex caught in quicksand and rescues him. Rex goes to find Lady and rescues her from a pack of wolves. He returns to Jim in time to save him from an attack by a mountain lion. Pangle's gang comes after Jim, and Jane rides to warn him but is spotted by Pangle. Jim sees her danger and goes after Pangle, who shoots Jim's horse. Rex goes to Jim's aid, offering his bare back to the unhorsed rider. Jim catches Pangle and beats him up. Rex bests Killer in a fight. Jim and Jane kiss. Rex and Lady rub noses.
