Conflict arises when a wife discovers that her husband has not gone to work, but, instead, has gone with friends to the local Woolworth to protest the segregated lunch counters. Torn between commitments to his fellow protestors and the duties of marriage and parenthood, the husband faces a difficult decision: participate in the civil rights movement in the hopes of a better future and risk all that he has worked for, or simply do nothing. Upon recognizing the implications of segregation on his children's future, he recommits himself to the cause.
