Cast & Crew
From some of the oldest working diamond mines to the luxurious showrooms of New York, the program traces the process by which a rough gray rock is transformed into a girl's best friend. From inside a mine in South Africa, the process of how miners recognize and transport the rocks is examined. In addition, a visit to Antwerp, Belgium, exposes how the individual stones are bought and traded in a club-like atmosphere that fosters the interpersonal trust that still lies at the heart of the diamond trading business. Finally, the jeweler's craft is observed in New York where stones are cleaved, cut, ground and polished.
