At the beginning of his acting career, McLarty was featured in dramas like "Bloodbrothers" (1978) starring Paul Sorvino, "Daniel" (1983) with Timothy Hutton and Mandy Patinkin and "The Flamingo Kid" (1984) with Matt Dillon and Richard Crenna. He also appeared in the TV movie "Johnny, We Hardly Knew Ye" (NBC, 1976-77). He worked in series television while getting his start in acting, including a part on "Guiding Light" (CBS, 1951-2009).
